How Chiropractic care can help skiers and snowboarders?

Going to your chiropractor on a regular basis
can help with balance and mobility while you are skiing.

Preserving equal bio-mechanics from
side to side helps make the body more
efficient and will result in less wear on
the joints and core muscles

Restoring full range of motion in the
joints helps reduce drag on the
articulation and results in more
endurance and stamina.
Proprioception is your body's awareness
of your position in space. Good
proprioceptive is good balance and is a
fundamental part of being an athlete.

Daily stress of marriage

Daily we may experience stress: physically, chemically or mentally and emotionally in varying degrees. Stress can lead to fatigue, high blood pressure, insomnia, headaches, tooth-grinding, irritability, or digestive disorders.  Researchers estimate that stress contributes up to 80% of all major illnesses! Chronic stress lowers the body’s immune responses, making it more susceptible to disease. Sufficient sleep helps fight fatigue and stress. Exercise and outdoor activities are great stress reducers. The bodydoesn’t absorb ingested nutrients well under stress and may become deficient.Ask your doctor about taking Vitamin B Complex and other nutritional supplements. Chiropractic adjustments clear nerve system interference and heighten immune responses. While we cannot always remove or control the stressful situations we experience, we can strive to enhance our quality of health with regular chiropractic treatments.

Theres still time

There’s Still Time!

Even after the big election, the fate of healthcare in the U.S. is a concern for many. Still, there are a few ways you can take control of your own healthcare, and if you've already done so by setting aside money into a health savings account (HSA) or flexible spending account (FSA), you may be able to use it towards chiropractic care at The Joint. Year end is fast approaching, and if you're like the average American, you may still have around $75-$100 in unused funds left over in your pre-tax savings accounts— and with FSAs especially, the old adage "use it or lose it" applies. But don't let that concern you, because not only is there still time to allocate that money for chiropractic care, but you likely have enough left over for not just one visit but possibly even a month or so of adjustments!
FSAs and HSAs allow you more flexibility to cover your healthcare costs and allow you to determine what expenses you want to allocate your money towards, making it easier to incorporate alternative healthcare such as chiropractic into your wellness routine. To utilize your pre-tax plans to cover chiropractic care at The Joint, you need only review your plan's guidelines to be sure you meet the eligibility requirements. For instance, in some cases a letter of medical necessity or prescription from your medical doctor is required.
Chiropractic isn't just for those experiencing pain or seeking to alleviate symptoms of illness. While it is certainly important to see your chiropractor for these types of health issues, making ongoing chiropractic care a part of your health regimen is a significant way to help your body function properly, and in many cases aid in the prevention of health concerns before they occur; which is why The Joint offers both individual and family plan options.
While you can use your pre-tax plan to cover the cost of each visit, they will not cover future visits before they occur, so you may be required to submit receipts for your visits. However, with healthcare costs on the rise, HSAs and FSAs allow you to better plan and budget for the care you require and keep costs to a minimum by allowing you to use pre-taxed monies. Take control of your healthcare— visit The Joint location nearest you today.

Should I rest after an adjustment?

Actually, it's best that you stay active after your adjustment.

Try to stay active after an adjustment. With chiropractic care, we are creating more movement, enhancing mobility and putting motion back into stuck segments of the spine.

We want you to enjoy this extra movement by going for walks, hikes, bicycle rides, or whatever else you enjoy doing. After working on someone’s low back, Dr. Lloyd will often tell his patients to walk around the parking lot before getting into their cars. Being engaged in physical activity helps your body assimilate the extra mobility that it enjoys when being adjusted.

If you are working on a specific issue in your body, you may also need to do some muscle strengthening exercises to provide more strength and stability to the area. The key to rehabbing parts of the body is to keep areas simultaneously mobile and strong. Staying active after your adjustments and during the week is the key to doing this.

The next time you and your family come in for your adjustments, remember to take the time to put some activity in your day. It will do a lot for you.

Chiroractic and Sport Inuries

Have you ever had a sports injury that limited you from playing your favorite sport? If so, you aren't alone. Whether you are a weekend sports enthusiast or a competitive athlete, getting back to playing again is the most important thing. Fortunately, chiropractic care can play a big role in helping you recover - and prevent future injuries.
Getting your injury assessed and treated appropriately will not only get you back on your feet faster, but also screen out any bad habits that can lead to further injury. Here are some of the most common sports injuries, along with tips of what you can do to get better with the help of your chiropractor.
Injury: Hamstring Strain or Low back strain -Hamstring pulls and strains are most commonly due to lack of flexibility and adequate warm up before beginning your sport. Apart from treating the area of injury, your chiropractor will examine you to see if there are any muscular imbalances. Treatment: Follow RICE: (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) principle if injury happened within last 48 hours.Chiropractic adjustments and electrotherapy work to address joint tightness and range of motion.
Injury: Tennis Elbow -The pain on the outside of the elbow is known as lateral epicondylitis or tennis elbow. This area has one of the least amounts of blood supply to the body. That's why it may take longer to heal. It's important to get back into activity slowly. Treatment: Ultrasound or laser to help with tissue healing, and spinal manipulation around the elbow joint to increase joint motion.Your chiropractor can help maximize athletic performance, reduce injury risk and treat any injury you may suffer. Talk to them today for more information.
